Eligibility

The bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology focuses on examining and utilizing psychological theories and principles. Through the practical exposure, students gain insight into various fields of psychology such as Social psychology, developmental psychology, clinical psychology, research, bio-psychology, etc.

The department prioritizes a practical education approach and the cultivation of different qualities required in the field of psychology. The program nurtures students' professional skills and ethical obligations, equipping them for diverse roles as adept psychologists.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Pass in 10+2 Examination / Equivalent Examination with at least 45% marks in aggregate in 5 subjects including English as compulsory subjects along with 4 subjects with the highest score out of the remaining subjects.

Applied Psychology provides the foundations for a career in psychology and affiliated fields, offering modules in the core areas of modern psychology, including cognitive, biological, developmental, abnormal psychology, etc.

Students of the program are comprehensively trained in research skills, as throughout the degree the student will conduct qualitative and quantitative research, & also complete an independent research project in your final year.

Applied Psychology offers a rich and diverse curriculum. Students will complete courses that examine psychology from a philosophical and cultural perspective, enhance their critical thinking and help them develop a strong understanding of the modern fields of psychology. The combination of courses offered will enable them to develop confidence, knowledge and capability in both the research and practical application of psychological theory. This course examines how psychology is applied to work and in the community, and how psychological interventions might help real world problems.

The MA Applied Psychology programme lays an emphasis on understanding and applying psychology through experiential learning and hands on activities, apart from classroom learning. This includes the use of the Manoshala Lab and Manovritti counseling cell, which is a Centre for Psychometric Assessment, Psychological Counseling, Psychotherapy & Training & Development at the Department of Applied Psychology.

The objective is to help the Applied Psychology student strengthen domain knowledge and to hone applied skills which are needed in the real world workplace.

The course provides practical exposure in terms of research and field practice. The weightage is more than 21% in the PG program.

Candidate needs to fill an on-line form at our website www.mru.edu.in with the prescribed fee. After accepting the form, the university will intimate the candidate about the MRNAT examination date and place. After clearing the MRNAT candidate appears for the group discussion and personal interview. First preference will be given to MRNAT and second preference to marks in qualifying examination.

However students can also get admission by clearing the Common University Entrance Test.

There is no need to submit original certificates but candidates must produce original certificates/documents on the day of admission for their verification, failing which candidate shall not be considered for admission. Two sets of self-attested copies of the certificates/documents are required to be submitted at the time of physical counseling. More details may be available in the admission brochure.

The students have successful careers in hospitals, clinical settings, working in school and colleges as counselors and also in corporate sectors as trainers and specialists in psychological assessments. Furthermore, after completing Masters in any field of psychology, students can work into the research field as well.

PhD degree holders in psychology can go into the college/University level teaching as a lecturer, visiting faculty and Assistant Professor.
