Merit preparation / short listing of candidates shall be on the basis of score in Pearson/ JEE Mains 2021/ SAT / Uni Gauge E 2021 / MRNAT 2021 /XII Qualifying Examination
Eligibility Criteria
Pass in 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in 5 subjects and eligibility shall be determined on the basis of percentage of aggregate marks in
i. English, Physics & Mathematics and
ii. One subject out of Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology or Biotechnology
iii. One subject with the highest score out of the remaining subjects

 For Award of Degree of a programme B-Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, he/she has to earn minimum 162 credits during the 4-year duration of the programme in 8 semesters.

Each course shall have credits assigned to it. Student shall be required to register courses in every semester under different categories.

  • Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL)

  • Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)
  • Coal India Limited (CIL)

The pass outs can join as graduate engineer trainee/management trainee in many premier Educational & Research Institutions. Apart from this, students also go for higher education and entrepreneurship. Over the last few years, around 60% of our students have been placed in public and private sector corporations including Coal India Ltd., BARC, TCS, Wipro, L&T Infotech, Luminous Power Technology Andrew Hydro, Honeywell, Ceasefire, Avery India, Omaxe Auto and Debbas Prime Solutions etc.

Highlights

  • Microgrids offer several economic and technological benefits such as providing substantial savings, reducing carbon emissions and ensuring the availability of reliable, stable and affordable power supply to regions and communities that are located at distant places or in rural areas.
  • It can be powered by distributed generators, batteries, or renewable resources such as solar power, small hydro, geothermal, waste-to-energy, and combined heat and power systems.
  • A microgrid provides backup for the grid in case of emergencies such as main grid failure or a natural calamity. It can also be used to cut costs or connect to a local resource that is too small or unreliable for traditional grid use.

Will Microgrids power India?

  • The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Government of India has taken cognizance of the importance of micro and mini grids in achieving the objective of ‘24X7 power to all’ with the proposed development of 10,000 renewable microgrids and mini-grids with a generative capacity of 500 MW .
  • Large private investments are flowing in this area such as the partnership between Tata Power and Rockefeller Foundation to set up 10,000 microgrids by 2026. This project is expected to support 100,000 rural enterprises.
  • The B. Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with specialization in Microgrid Technologies attempts to train the students in the design, development, integration and control in the emerging areas of Microgrids with potential job opportunities in future.
  • The implementation of micro grid in different parts of the country especially in rural areas, is expected to create thousands of new green jobs with options for many Start-ups.

From the current academic year the department is offering B Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with specialization in EMERGING/ MULTIDISCIPLINARY AREAS of Microgrid Technologies, here a student shall take the minimum additional Credits in the range of 18-20 and get the B. Tech (Hons.) with Specialization in Micro grid Technologies. 

Placement Opportunities

Electrical Engineers are much in demand in India, and have numerous opportunities. Electrical engineers can work in atomic power plants, hydel or thermal power plants, railways, civil aviation, electricity board and utility companies, electrical design and consultancy firms and all types of manufacturing industries. The candidates can also find job opportunities in Production plants, Design industries, Petroleum industry, Natural gas plants etc. in the private sector as well. Companies like ABB, Bajaj International Private Ltd, Crompton Greaves Limited, Siemens Ltd, Reliance Power Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Coal India Limited (CIL), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Centre for Electronics Design and Technology and Wipro Lighting are the biggest employers hiring Electrical Engineers.
