A very important role of university is to conduct quality research. Research is a critical factor in building up the reputation of the university. Research activities advance the existing knowledge, improve problem solving skills and prepare for taking up new challenges. Thus, significant contribution of the faculty members is discovering and creating new knowledge and sharing the latest developments with students. Teaching and research complement in an interactive way. Students benefit tremendously from involvement in hands-on research experiences and develop valuable practical and analytical skills from their participation.
As researchers, we seek answers to questions of great interest to us. Our research problem could be aesthetic, social, political, scientific, technical and or interdisciplinary in nature. A meaningful and sensible research is expected to improve quality of life. Also it should address variety of local and state issues, solve practical problems, and encourage economic diversification. The knowledge created by research should lead to new technologies, commercial products, and development of industries that have a significant impact on the country’s economy.
Office of Dean Research facilitates and coordinates with the faculty for promotion of quality research. At MRU Faculty members conduct quality research leading to publications in conferences and refereed Journals of repute. Innovations by faculty and students further result in new patents. Research at MRU is an integral part of under-graduate and post-graduate education. Faculty members are engaged in research in different areas of science, technology and management. A good infrastructure exists which includes dedicated research labs for Solar Energy Applications,
Clean Water Technology and Green Chemistry. New Projects on Green Polymers and Corrosion Science have also been initiated. Faculty members are involved in work in the areas of clean technologies, nano sciences, atmospheric physics, power electronics, integrated system design, soft computing, business process modeling and data warehousing.
Collaborations and networking with industries and national & international academic universities/ institutes ensure that the frontier areas are researched and explored. In the same spirit the recently signed MoU with Su-Kam Power Systems Ltd. in the field of Solar Energy, promotes collaboration on academic and research related developmental activities. This will provide added opportunities to the students and academic staff for exchange programmes and to carry out joint research activities and apply for international grants.

MRU is a Research Driven University. We aim at providing excellent research culture and infrastructure to the faculties and students. This serves as a platform for strong interdisciplinary collaborations and knowledge sharing. Publishing papers in high quality journals of international repute has been our top most priority which would help to create quality human resources for scientific research. We also promote industrial collaborations involving active and mutually beneficial R&D projects. Manav Rachna University promotes research activities over a wide spectrum of areas which includes Engineering, Applied sciences, Humanities and Management. The faculty members are involved in various research activities pertaining to innovation and development. MRU has funded the development of a ‘Research and Instrumentation Centre (RIC)’, to cater research activities. University funds a number of faculty and students projects. To fulfill its mission of promoting Environment and Sustainable Development, the University has taken up green chemistry, harnessing of solar energy, alternative fuels and developing environment friendly applications as major research areas.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is involved in a wide spectrum of research areas. Some of the thrust areas include Digital Signals Processing, Microwave and Antenna, Organic solar cell, Thin film materials, Nanoscale processing for advanced materials and devices, Optoelectronic devices, Diluted magnetic semiconductors, Spintronics and Gas/Chemical sensors etc.

Research in Applied Sciences
The Department of Physics carries research in the fields of experimental and theoretical material sciences. The work includes synthesis, characterization & applications of nanomaterials, and study of band structure and electronic properties of materials using ab-initio methods. The department is also involved in the area of Atmospheric Sciences which focuses on the study of natural phenomenon such as earthquakes, thunderstorms, lightning, solar flares etc. The R&D group of the department has established a Renewable Energy lab which is engaged in developing applications of PV Technology in daily life.

The Department of Chemistry is primarily involved in the areas of Green Synthesis of Nano-particles, Metal Complexes, Heavy Metal Toxicity and its Remediation, Molecular Modeling and Drug Design such as Anti- Cancerous Drugs etc. In addition to this, Water treatment by Chemical, Electrochemical and Green Routes, Green Polymer Synthesis & Characterization, Green Synthesis of Corrosion inhibitors and their studies are also some areas where the researcher’s interest is developing.
