Programs Offered:

Master of Arts in English programme shall be so structured by Manav Rachna University as to provide strong foundation in English language, theory, and literature. The Master of Arts shall be based on two-year broad-based, modular pattern of studies that provides depth and breadth of studies in the area of English discipline. Master of Arts. to hard specializations, but other types of literature, critical ideologies, and interdisciplinary studies can be pursued by the students independently. Even specialization space in the program is given as students can specialize studies based on their career goals and areas of interest.

English Literature: Overview of British, American, Indian, and world literatures. It covers all major literary periods, movements, and authors, providing students with complete literary background.

Literary Theory: The course acquaints the students with extensive knowledge about major schools of literary theory, e.g., Marxism, Feminism, Postcolonialism, and Structuralism. The students are fortunate enough to critically examine texts from diverse frames of perception.

Duration: 2 yrs. (4 Semesters)

It primarily deals with the development and designing of computer software and hardware processes with strong focus on algorithms, programming languages, program design etc.

Program Structure

The curriculum is completed in 4 semesters of 2 years along with core classes in English literature and literary theory supported by upper-level electives in streams of postcolonial studies, creative writing, and gender studies. The students would also be led to work on research projects terminating in a dissertation (optional), through which the student is free to pursue one specific theme deep.

M.A. English program is planned in such a way that students, in addition to acquiring theoretical concepts, acquire practical concepts of research, critical analysis, and writing. Live project exposure and internship exposure enhance the curriculum.

English Literature: Reading of literature that is representative of a wide variety of genres such as poetry, novel, play, and short fiction in British, American, and world literature. Eligibility Criteria

For M.A. in English course admission, the prospective candidates should meet the below-given eligibility conditions to make themselves eligible for admission:

For 2-Year Programme:

At least 45% marks or equivalent CGPA in any degree of recognized university. English at 10+2 level is mandatory.

For 1-Year Programme:

The candidate should have passed a 4-year Bachelor's degree (Hons.) with a minimum percentage of 45% marks or CGPA and English as a subject at the 10+2 level.

Admission Criteria

Along with these academic credentials, shortlisting will also be on MRNAT marks or qualifying exam marks at the bachelor's degree level. This is so that students to be admitted to the course are of good enough quality to be able to fulfill the scholarship demands of the M.A. English course.
