The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Applied Science is celebrating National Nutrition Week from 1st to 7th September, 2017. The theme for this week is ‘Optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health.’ The main objective behind celebrating National Nutrition Week is to create awareness on the importance of Nutrition on health which has far reaching implications on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately National Development.
During the Nutrition Week, Diet and Nutrition Clinic is going to be inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Patron, MREI, Mrs. Satya Bhalla. The clinic has been established to achieve the University’s mission at the levels of teaching and scientific research, and to serve the community by offering advice and guidelines to maintain a healthy lifestyle through a balanced diet without seeking profits.
The department brings together eminent speakers in the field of Nutrition, students’ intellect and creativity at one platform to exchange thoughts, share new ideas and concepts. It is organizing bundle of brain storming activities for the students in particular, National Nutrition Week seeks to promote and facilitate communication among youth and also to create awareness about nutrition in different sections of society. The importance of subject attaches great significance because it relates to human health specifically the well-being of the entire community as children are the future of any nation. It will also upgrade the knowledge with recent advances in Child Health and Nutrition which will enlighten with a new shape and dimension of modern trends in Child Nutrition research.
